So many majestic peaks can be viewed from so many scenic valleys
in the White Mountains Region of New Hampshire. Then there are so many ways to the top.
You can do it from on foot or in your own car. There are cable cars, gondolas, chairlifts,
special limos, even a cog railway.
Whether you take the low roads, or one of the high roads, the reward is practically
always spectacular views.
Throughout the region a camping family can enjoy dozens of attractions, some created by
nature and many more fashioned by man, each designed appropriately for all the seasons.
You can do this and choose from the largest variety of campgrounds in the state that
spread from its more populous southern section to the moose country in the north. If you
like rustic, it's here. If you like all the comforts and all the ways to be entertained,
it's here too.
There are waterfalls that thunder and others that just trickle gently. There are trails
to hike, rivers for canoeing or for more adventurous white water canoeing. Covered bridges
are tucked into many back roads.
Attractions are everywhere. Railways take you on scenic trips. Walk through the famous
Flume Gorge. Visit the historic former site of the Old Man of the Mountains
and the new Old Man of the mountains museam, or experience history at Heritage New
Hampshire. Take your kids to Story Land, Santa's Village or a water park. Explore Lost
River or Polar Caves.
Spend some time shopping. It's tax free and there is an abundance of factory outlet
stores, particularly in the North Conway area. There also are many small shops for the
antique collector, or any other collector.
Play golf, tennis, hike, fish, hunt, swim, or go boating. The variety of outdoor
recreation is limited only by your imagination and ability to participate. The White
Mountains Region has it all.
Take a ride along the Kancamagus Highway, 30 miles of spectacular viewing along the
only National Scenic Byway in New England. Allow plenty of time for stops to picnic, to
view the scene from an overlook, or to hike a short distance to a beautiful waterfall.
The splendor of autumn, the snows of winter, the awakening of springtime, or the
business of summer. Make a choice and head for the north country.
